I used to have a French ex-girlfriend
Back together then?

I got that, the old double negative trap. :)

Ahahahaha that's Hilarious! :p

Ok guys, I ran it again and again it's stuck on 66%, but the program is responding, so it may just be that I'm inpatient and that it will take it a bit longer, it seems to be extracting a rather large file from the ISO at 66%...

I'll do a quick search. What this boils down to is you basically bought a computer without a OS. No recourse through the seller?

I checked on the Acer site and it lists 8.1 as the OS.

Some kind of patch also.

Like I said that version of Linux sux... let see it we can get Mint or Windows 64 bit installed...
Got to be the BIOS. If you can boot from USB then you can install anything (surely).

Yup I'm all for updating bios - UEFI can be finicky though...

Yes, that's what it boils down to...

The seller said that it's not possible for them to send me the lap top with a different OS, it has to be this Linux cr*p...

And I asked if the lap top supports Windows 7, they said yes...

I got the USB with Linux Mint 64-bit on it, and I will now attempt to have it load on my new lap top...

May God help us all...

Select the top one and see what happens. Only thing that can mess up is your USB boot files.

If you get Linux going and want to install 7 someone else will have to help. Good luck!

Heeeey, my lap top has a mouse cursor, and a desktop, and sound, hooraay children, let's hear it for the children... oh man, when this is done Imma put me some south park to celebrate! :p

Ok, guys, one thing, not to spit on linux, but i'm so busy with my transcription and my internet marketing efforts and education, that I cannot possibly sit and learn how to operate a different OS than the one I know, which is Windows 7. I hope you can understand.

I mention this because I could just keep Linux Mint and start using it, and it would be the end of this educational step-by-step thread we got here. BUT, I need to have Windows 7, or even XP would be better, for that matter...

So, what next?

You'll get Linux "Live" with option to install ... no harm will be done

Edit: The main thing is that you have got to install stage which means you can do the same with Windows... that's a good start.

Ok, so what now guys?

I want to wipe Linux off of my machine and install Windows 7...

I imagine that without the USB plugged in I go back to a non-functioning lap top... But I don't have another large USB to install Windows on it and try to run both USB's at the same time, one to start up Linux Mint, and the other to begin the Windows Formatting of Driver and Installation...

What I do have is a small 2GB USB which is empty. So what I could do is Install Linux Mint on that one (it will fit), and then install Windows 7 on the 8GB USB, then use the small one (Linux Mint) to start my lap top, and use the big one (Windows 7) to remove linux and install windows 7...

Should I do that?

I'm so way outta my waters here...

You basically do the same thing you did to get Linux going. Create a bootable USB windows 7 or XP drive, assuming you have legit copies with valid keys. I don't know if the UEFI thing will come into play. I'm assuming there is no key burned to the chip since you got no OS with the computer.

Once booted up you'll have to install the OS to the hard drive for a permanent fix. I don't know if you'll have to use some kind of partition software to remove the Linux that came with it. That is where others may help.
