My gaming PC randomly freezes

Would I be good to go and start gaming again from now on? Or do you think there's more drivers to be installed?

Oh and also.. Window updates did not come up with no updates is that fine?

Guys just noticed though after I restart my PC and login via e-mail and password the programs are slow to load up basically feels as though my PC is frozed for 10-20 seconds before the programs show up etc.

Also tried playing a game and the loading screen freezes when it shouldn't be but comes back to life again after around 10 seconds.
Could this be a intel driver bug? Can't see it being a graphics card problem since my PC is slow/freezes after the login screen.

This is a new windows 8.1 install also these things should be happening?

Again, never answering all questions asked before when i am trying to help you. What system drivers have you downloaded from motherboard site, is it Windows 8.1 64bit or 32bit system, as need this information to get correct drivers from motherboard site. As far as slowness and hangs and freezes can be many reasons, but first need to get all your drivers back on system. Then take it from there, in another post here made seem like was fine.

What are you asking there? If windows version on the OPs computer is 32 or 64 bit? You can safely assume in this situation that the computer is running 64 bit windows. If it was actually 32 bit, the worst case scenario is that the driver will refuse to install. No harm done.


We should try to diagnose what is causing the slowness and hangs from this point forward. Drivers are most likely covered. At least the critical ones.

What type of storage drive do you have? Is it an HDD or an SSD? What's it's total capacity, and how much free space is left on it?

Windows Updates sometimes take a couple reboot cycles before they show up to be installed. There should be quite a few once your operating system settles in.

Yes, before downloading the drivers from manufacturer's site, which i linked her board, i liked to know what bit the system was for correct drivers. What's the point to take wrong ones anyway, as it also seems she not familiar with doing this ?
Yeah, might not matter, but can be some of causes right now till she does them all, then we can go from there.

A computer lock up can also be caused by outdated or corrupted drivers.

In fact she is still having an issue with barely anything on system at all (software,drivers) and clean install, this is kind of saying it's a good possibility it' a hardware issue. Also she never mentioned there was viruses, malware originally on system is real reason why OS was reinstalled, as posted in another thread here.

Many reasons why system freezes and lock up, but with barely any software or drivers on system does point to the possibility of hardware failure.Still do not know much about system and all it's specs, it also being custom build.

@JDS I checked that my PC is set on "Turn of fast set-up" but.. my PC is 1 years old is should be fine on that setting?

Yeah I have the parts on a piece a paper I printed out.

Remember, I believe the end-Goal is you just want a Gaming-system and help to apparently to stop whatever "freezes" you mentioned.. which I still don't understand and you haven't answered if its just the loading of games or are you actually getting freezes in the game and you can't play games smoothly?

780 GTX is my video card not sure why Intel HD is in the graphics section.

Ok this may be something, with the 2 video cards, your system maybe using the Intel crappy video card instead of your GTX..

do me a favor and rightclick on your game shortcut to start it and see if this shows up..

"Run with ... " and you can see "intel " or "780 GTX"
