I convert all units in my head - F and C, pounds and KG, ounces to grams, miles and KM is easy. The only ones where I have problems are cups - when the wife is baking because in Europe we measure on Grams. But I lived nearly 20 years in the US and had plenty of time to practice.

Thanks, Tepid. :thumb: I thought it might of been my phone.

Don't quote me, but I think I remember John complaining that the 7F and 8F forum software company was sold off, outdated, and not very well supported, so I doubt this problem will ever get fixed. :(

I am going to try Tapatalk, I don't know if that will work
never used that before.

I used that on my Droid. I thought I looked for that in the Store when I first got this Lumia, but it was no where to be found. I'll look again.

Ok. Done deal. They must have released this app recently. I read that in some of the reviews.

Nice to have voice to text to post with!

Thanks so much again! :)

Edit:

I see editing is the touch > hold > drop down menu. Moving the cursor is kind of squirrely. Can't see the title of the videos in "What are you listening to now" thread. Overall this is better than what I had and is doable. :)

Yes, after some training. I have a very low voice which they say is more difficult for machine they say, so I have a little harder time with it. Ironically humans hear it better because the sound waves travel farther.

The voice aspect is app centric, so it is optional in some apps.

Sorry, left this out. In Tapatalk you have to push the 3-dot menu or slide up and push the +/reply to get the mic for speaking, otherwise use the text box to type and push the callout icon on the right to post. Kind of weird the way they have that set up.

Thanks guys for all the good info. I think I will try Tapatalk. We'll see how it can deal with my German accent. Maybe I should use the German version (if there is a thing like that) and then run it thru Google Translate, LOL.

LOL! We shouldn't laugh. That would be a great embedded program for a text box. You could speak in German (or any language) and it would translate it to English words in the text box to post.

BTW, Bing has a terrific translator.

Well,, I was dumb and gave up our old WP7 phones,, not sure why.

But with the Edge plan, once you upgrade, you have to turn it in. Due to the fact that you can upgrade once you pay half the cost of Retail, which is generally a year, so you can upgrade every year instead of 2 and no contract, if you pay it off it is your (full retail,, which takes about 2 years).

I figure, since we are paying these things off over that 2 year time frame anyway, might as well take advantage of the Edge deal. Only makes the bill about $15 more a month, but can upgrade within a year.

There actually is, so far Samsung is going to be throwing out their new Ativ SE around April 18th for $600 off contract.
Samsung ATIV SE with Windows Phone 8.1 Coming to Verizon on April 18 for $600

As for Nokia, that may see a wait for a Verizon variant. Unfreakingfortuantely, they probably will release all new handsets for att exclusively, maybe a lower end model for T-Mobile. If they were smart and listened to the bajillion people that complain about att, they would just do what every other manufacturer does; build one handset and release it on all carriers.
