Microsoft may release Office 2013 public preview today

Microsoft may announce the first public preview of Office 2013, the likely name for its next productivity suite, at its annual gathering with partners later today.

Although Microsoft has not publicly revealed its plans for Office 2013 -- which has been codenamed "Office 15" -- other than to say that a public beta would be rolled out "later this summer," there are clues that the company will unveil a sneak peek today.

Hi everyone

Let's get back to the issue here.

Whether or not people were "Pirating" software and using Megaupload to "deliver" their stuff doesn't actually make Megaupload Guilty -- a perfectly valid Court in a nation totally recognized by both the UN and the USA as being a 100% sovereign, independent and a free democracy found them Not Guilty -- End of. -- no further action should be necessary whether or not certain vested interests in the USA didn't like the verdict.

If we go down this road -- shouldn't ALL BANKS be closed down because some people use them for Money Laundering or all MOBILE PHONE NETWORKS shut down because criminals use these to assist them in illegal activities -- or we should Ban BMW's because people illegally speed in these and cause accidents killing people at times.

If we go down this route where does it end.

I know megaupload was used by loads of people sharing files of dubious "provenance" but that's not the point -- the law was NOT being broken as it currently stood in N.Z at the time.

@Jimbo: And in unrelated news, a US court ruled Casey Anthony not guilty too. That mostly boiled down to the charges they brought against her, versus what many believe she actually did.

A court ruling on something doesn't necessarily tell the whole story. Many walk on plain technicalities, not because they were actually innocent of a crime....

As far as Office goes, it might be available, which also means "it might not be available".

UPDATE!

According to the USA Today, the release of the Office 2013 beta will be NEXT Monday.

And I continue to patiently play the Waiting Game.....

I cant really get excited about this I am still on 2003 and my better half got really upset when I overwrote her clipart in office 95.
I learnt the hard way that backing up the spouse's computer is the number one priority in our house, I still get reminded of that faux pas 10 years later.

What irate me is, when Office beta testing is completed, THEY give you an older version instead of the one you had been beta testing. I guess I shouldn't complain tho, the last MS Office I paid for was in Windows 3 (Windows for Workgroups). Kid you NOT!

^Huh...I never got a free copy of MS Office. I got Windows 7 Ultimate for free at the "New Efficiency" launch program when it came out...but never Office.

Oh well, I have to carry my laptop daily for work and work has Office installed on the laptop so it's there when I need it. I don't have Office installed at home, as I simply don't require it.

Simple enough to do, get invited to beta test thru beta.microsoft.com, and do the testing from start to finish, and post problems that you locate, and Viola you get a copy of a past version of MS Office, complete with 3 installs.
