No virus protection or security will stop junk from downloading into your computer if you check YES on a popup. You are giving them permission.
From now on when I get a popup telling me "such and such" a program needs to update, I go right to that programs site and check it out. Is there an update? If so, it should be available on their site. I don't know what thrill these geeks get out of doing this to people... and I refuse to use Bing for that reason. A few years ago it was Bing that was being forced on us through this nefarious tricks. Follow the rule: Don't click on any popups. Don't click on any links from emails. ( I get 3 or 4 a day that are fakes emails.) If my bank has a problem with my account, I go to the bank site (from my own link not theirs) and check. You need to be suspicious of everything.
