4gb DDR3 1333
XFX 9800GT
Biostar MB
360GB Drive
Vista Home Premium

Cost me a total of $179

I guess I maintain 6 machines, 5 of them "desktop" machines. (Not including my phone or kindle)

1) Main computer, always the most powerful. (Win 7)

2) Guest computer, always my last generation of main computer. (Win 8, poor guestie)

3) WHS machine, low power always-on machine. (WHS 2012)

4) Media machine in a stereo rack case connected to TV/Projector. Usually some form of 3rd gen hand me down in my chain. (Win 7)

5) Small shoebox machine in office just for financial stuff. (XP)

5) Laptop for on the road procesing and preview of images when on a photography trip. (Win 7)

At one time I had a few more than the three I listed above. I didn't really have a use for them so I gave them away to anybody that need them or could use them. Family and friends come to me for tech support and I also get their junk when they don't want it anymore. If I can get a working PC out of what I have I will. Otherwise it just ends up as spare parts for my next, can you fix this project. Right now as long as I have one backup for my main desktop I'm happy. The days of having 3 or 4 or more PC's just to play with are gone for me. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I just loose interest after I get it all setup and running. My main desktop is my daily user and gaming machine. My second desktop is in my bedroom and used mainly as a media PC. I suffer chronic back pain so when I'm laid up in bed I use that PC to listen to some tunes or watch video's. That PC's getting a wide screen monitor and a TV tuner card this Christmas so it will be a PC/TV/PVR. My wife uses the laptop more than I do, Facebook mostly. I use it more in the summer when I can take it out side and relax. I'll listen to some tunes and browse the forums.

We haven't had fewer than 7 PC's in our house since 1992. Right now, I have a work laptop, personal laptop, main desktop, PC in the family room, wife's laptop, daughter's laptop, son's laptop and desktop, Windows Home Server 2011 and several PC's on the test bench at all times... About a dozen right now...
