Ex-Microsoft Employee Launches 'Fixing Windows 8' Campaign

What happened to Mike Bibik? Formerly 'Fixing Windows 8'

Not everyone is happy with Windows 8's sweeping design changes, including one former Microsoft employee who thinks the company can do better.

The former employee has launched a website called “Fixing Windows 8” with suggestions on how Microsoft could improve the user interface, particularly for a mouse and keyboard. According to Tom's Hardware, the website's founder is Mike Bibik, a user interface designer.

“During the MWC keynote, Microsoft made it very clear that Windows 8 will work fantastically if you are using touch, mouse or keyboard,” Bibik wrote in his first post. “Unfortunately, that’s not entirely true.”

Edit: Shortly after posting this the website went blank. The author Mike Bibik's twitter account was also MIA. Twitter is back now, set to private. So far there is no news as to why the website disappeared, and indeed...

What happened to Mike Bibik ?

Yes, I spotted that yesterday.

Doesn't seem like anything has been going on there for a while, as you say.

Might have to start an International hunt for the guy.

I don't know him - never even heard of him till a couple of days ago.

Still - we should look out for him.

If we don't - then who is going to look out for us?

Its looking like MS "fixed" him instead. I too don't know him till this thread was started but he's getting more attention now than before he got lost. If it was MS that silenced him, this is backfiring on them.

Maybe this is why employees inside MS who don't want this new design policy they are up to would rather shut their mouths than be "silenced" too.

Area, not sure what happened with you, but I just clicked it and it went to his site. I copied and pasted it directly, I don't trust myself to type things in, nor do I link to stuff like that.

Can't say I'm seeing any problems with the site either. I also ran the site through a few scanners and they all came up clean.

What link is that? The Chaos Terminal by Mike Bibik? The first time I clicked on that link hours ago, it did not bring me any problems so I we have no idea what happened to Area 66. He was using Windows XP and I assume the rest of us are either on Windows 7 or Windows 8 when we clicked that link. I am still using the de-Metroed WDP right now and no issues on that link.

If any of you are on those social networking sites - you might have a poke around and see if you can locate him.

Is it just us doing this?

apart from Fixingwindows8.com seems to have shut down |

Any other forums/blogs publicising his "disappearance" ?

There are one or two small mentions around - not much.

( I also have a computer shop with a computers lab not show here,) So I'm not that kind of noobs

Yes - this needs its own thread.

Probably easier to change the title of this one.

Got to keep up the pressure.

Whoever started this thread - would you change the title to "What happened to Mike Bibik ?"
