eGalax touch screen- Windows 8 thinks it's a mouse

Well the whole reason i posted here is because even with the touch screen windows 8 doesnt want to recognize it as a touchscreen, ie swipe to scroll, automatic on screen keyboard, etc. It just prpvides the basic functionality as it wpuld with a traditional mouse and keyboard.

That's what the touch controller is for. The touch screen is not an LCD, but a layer of glass that goes over the screen. It hooks into a touch controller which then allows you to plug it in to a USB

What happens when you type the word keyboard in the start menu and run the app that shows? Does that keyboard work for your touch?

Yes the on screen keyboard works, but win8 has a special keyboard for a touch screen that automatically comes up, if you have a touchscreen. Mine doesnt do that though.

Hey doolster, do you have another machine running Windows 8 or 7 that you can plug your eGalax device into?

It would be interesting to see if windows 7 reads the eGalax as a mouse or as touch.

Windows 7 or windows 8 on another machine?
If Windows 7, I think the driver for your egalax machine just isn't configured to communicate the touch as anything other than mouse strokes. Bummer.

Oh well i guess until MS decides to make a driver for it i'll just use it like it is.

Ok I think you are having the same issue I was having. After a bit of googling I have found an answer that allows the touch screen to work correctly (again I believe). Uninstall all drivers that you installed restart then down load and install this one from the archos site: ftp://support.archos.com/Archos 9/D...en_Beta/HID_Digitizer_x86_PS2_100115_Beta.zip

I now can drag the screen etc on the metro interface without it acting like a mouse. If this does not work for you I am sorry, I just wanted to pass on what had found to ease my pain I was having!
