Solved Clean install on ASUS Tablet

Hmm theres definitely something wrong here then it will not optimise any of the drives..and it wouldn't before clean install..

C
the recovery partition
or my sd card
its all greyed out.. and say optimisation not available.
I dont want to defragment it at all ..
I have started a new thread but have no answers yet..
Just added a screenshot of what I mean shall we move to that thread to keep this one on topic

Leave this one as is. Wonder maybe way to disable it altogether that is what happened.
Try to recall if there is a setting.

Go to run and type Services.msc look for Optimize Drive, see if it is stopped, should be set to manual.

Checked services all fine.... searched all over the web
ran cmd
defrag C: /O

And it tells me that the hardware is not supported ...
I don't understand how yours does?

"The operation requested is not supported by the hardware backing the volume. (0x8900002A)"

I have googled this error code and a user has had the problem where he deleted partitions but didn't format before installing the new OS...
Just wondering if I fully format and retry install might help..

Not sure of this issue, considering it is a Tablet. Although when doing a clean install Windows 8 will do any format for you. Do not need to do anything. Follow a custom install, delete partitions until 1 unallocated partition.

Is Your Model ME400CL ? I know this is the model in Europe. Just wondering any difference in models, mine being ME400C.
You said you made a new post, any replies to it ?

Did you put in the driver package when you reinstalled Windows 8.1 ?

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download ASUS VivoTab Smart

MaKe sure take the correct model ME400C or ME400CL, IMPORTANT!

What about ASUS Live Update, have it on there, can download it here too and runit to update the tablet.

Could be missing drivers somewhere on system. Check Device Manager for any yellow exclamation points, on View tab, check show hidden devices in case.

Hey sorry been busy at work...
Its the Me400c the cl has 3g
Definitely installed the right drivers everything is working .
Love the tablet.
This is the only issue I have with it I have re-downloaded the drivers and tried again but no change there....

Just wondering if the storage driver hasn't loaded properly?
I have 2 sd class storage adaptors and the Microsoft storage adaptor ..
Do you have anything under Intel storage adaptors on yours?
Thanks for looking ....again

Hmm I also have bitlocker encryption turned on ,On my C drive do you?

No problem, dawned on me might be a drivers issue. Making sure of the model, do not want you to install wrong drivers.

Yes i like the tablet too, like ASUS my Desktop is one.

The updates from ASUS Live Update program are the new BIOS, plus possibly new drivers, did you run this ?

What shows in your disk drives ? Yes same on mine with storage controllers as you listed, but no intel ones, only for CPU.

No i do not have bit encryption turned on. Never read much about that ,but it shoudln't cause disc optimize not to work i would think.

The disk dive is a Sandisk sem64g .

Yeah ran live update.. bios 0609. Drivers v5.0.0 ..
had live update update it's self last week. .
might try a format ..but as everything is working except optimisation I'm reluctant to do it all over again.

My C: Drive is a Samsung on this ME400C, hmm.

Hey i have done many system recoveries in my life with PC, but with Windows 8.1 so much less time then in past doing from a recovery partition. Be last choice unless you can find answers here, thought you made another thread for this,i could not find it here.

Im having an issue trying to hook my vivotab smart to my samsung 50 inch plasma tv via the micro HDMI. I have 2 cables tried both and for a brief second I got both to duplicate the display and it said samsung as the display #2. When I connect the cable I hear the sound to identify and it shows a display 2, but it says generic and when I select it and choose that display or duplicate the display it just resizes the tablet display and asks to revert or keep changes. I am not new to hooking up via hdmi vga etc to external monitors. I tried windows +P, tired settings, tried installing the driver again etc.............. to no avail.

I then gave up and tried to hook it up on my AOC LED 37" tv and it connected right away and duplicated the displays on its own and I was able to change to display 2 only etc.

Ive have prob 10 different laptops, desktops and tablets hooked up to my Samsung 50 inch over the last 5+ years and never once had a problem as a duplicated display, the samsung only or as an extended display.

anyone have any ideas why the asus vivotab smart will not work on my Samsung tv?
