BSOD driver_irql_not_less_or_equal amdsbs.sys (x64)
** To make it easier, the fixed ISO file is linked at the bottom of this post, but it will require a complete reload of the system to fix the problem...
I've been getting this at night during some automated process (usually around 2:30-3:00am), but I've had it twice this evening while I was actually using the system. I've seen references to the problem in the CP release, and a fix by taking that file (amdsbs.sys) from the DP release and inserting it into the .wim files, but is there a fix that doesn't require A reinstalling windows, and B having to bypass driver enforcement checks?
I thought it was my motherboard at first, so I purchased a new Asus Sabertooth 990fx r2.0, which is supposed to be 100% Windows 8 ready, but apparently RTM still has the bad drivers for that subsystem, and the current chipset drivers from Asus won't download correctly (should be around 200m in size, I can't get anything bigger than about 410k from Asus' website).
My hardware:
Asus Sabertooth 990fx R2.0 Bios 0906
AMD FX-8150 3.6ghz 8-Core CPU
2x8gb G.Skill Sniper Gaming Series 240-pin DDR3 1600
2x OCZ Agility3 120g SSD Raid 0 (Sure wish I'd have went with a 240gb single drive now, wouldn't be having this issue )
2x WD6401AALS 640gb HD Raid 0
EVGA Nvidia GTX560 Superclocked
Windows 8 Pro RTM
Event log shows a BugCheck, with the follwing information:
**EDIT** Attached current crash dumps to post, hopefully someone can help out with this, it's quickly becoming a pain in the rear..
***** HERE'S THE SOLUTION *****
Download the ISO below and burn to a blank DVD. Boot and do a full install (complete with hard drive format). You WILL loose any files on the drive, so make sure you have a backup of everything you want from the machine. This doesn't include ANY other mods other than the replaced amdsbs.sys file, no OEM software, nada. If Microsoft ever comes out with a working Windows 8 DVD (IE: With AMD raid/AHCI supported out of the box), I'll remove my links and put theirs in. They've already had one of my hosts shut down (the 4shared link) for 'copyright' violation, so if you even THINK you may need this, better get it while you can...
My original Dropbox Link (currently works):
