Am getting this really annoying pop up

Iobit is a serious spaghetti... avoid ALL of their products.

I use "classic shell" to de-metrofy my 8... free and flawless....

load all kinds of third party app to make win8 look line win7 and then blame win8 for the crap that's going on with your computer ,makes no sense to me ,but hey I like win8 the way it is ,♥

Well Jack each to his own my friend and I am NOT blaming Windows 8 for anything what gave you that idea is beyond me. I should have stuck with 7 if this is the reaction I am gong to get from being in this forum.:sarc:

never intended to start an argument ,but this did from your 2nd post
quote -"The problem has only been here since upgrading to 8."

and this a great forum ,don't leave ,maybe i should /will
Jack I was simply making the statement and I took your comments as a bit untoward - perhaps I was a bit hasty too and no for you to leave the forum is counter productive my friend as I think you will agree if we cannot sort this out amicably then it will be a sad and sorry day.
Therefore I am apologising for causing you to feel that way and I think we should just carry on and try to make the forum a better place I for one am not perfect far from it and it is probably something I have done that has brought about my problems.
I have since wrecked my install anyway by foolishly trying to alter the registry without backing it up first and now have to start all over again. So you see I really am no genius:eek:

I have IOBIT start 8, and its flawless, not one issue or popup.

What I have noticed is where you download your programs make a big difference, many many websites add an installer to these free utilities and MISLEAD you most horribly!! Unchecking the toolbar box is not enough you must also click decline as well, even when it appears that clicking decline will abort the installation, which it doesnt. Also the disagree or no thanks option is greyed out as if it is not an option when it fact its still a viable option you just have to click it..

As far as removing spyware, adware, viruses, and trojans... Its best to remove these from safemode.
Spybot search and destroy usually kills these bad boys, but its most effective in safemode when the problems are entrenched and load as a service..

Another beast is when a virus hides in your system restore files or in a hidden partition that is not scanned unless you can direct a scan to it directly.

Hope this helps...

Hm, if Brooklyn says he got it to install without adding extra goop, then he did. Ya probably got tricked into installing something. You gotta look ant the install process carefully. That's why I avoid all IObit poopola, it is very hard to avoid installing this poop. They get money when it is installed, because it forces IE to show those ads. They get money on clock throughs, see?

If TDSSKILLER and Malware Anti-Rootkit didn't find the culprit, you may want to try GMER. Also try Eset's sirefef finder. One way to see if you have Sirefef is that your Windows Firewall will no longer work. Sirefef removes it.

I downloaded Iobit Start 8 from Iobit.com which then connected me to cnet.com with no ad-installer. IObit Start Menu 8 Free download, Bring Start Menu back to Windows 8

I fear we will eventually have the Internet Police, nobody wants them but it may come!

These intrusive add-ons get installed despite our declination, costing us $billions in pc repair, cleanups, and re-installations!

I originally though, that any software bundled with IMGBURN was probably safe. I had harsh words for the guy who makes IMGBURN, but he has no control over it, it's the guys who distribute IMGBURN. But when I made that complaint, I got a dozen or so troglodytes jump on me with "It's free software, so quit complaining" - Like HELL, then bundle it with Java or Flash or something, not with Shite-ware.

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
Well I got the one referenced from Z in post#13 installed and so far so good it must have been along with some of the apps I loaded I reckon as I was blown and carried away by the sheer number of them when I first installed it.

Now the speed is even better it seems this time as i timed my boot for the Toshiba L550 laptop i5 430M @ 2.27 and 8GB and it was 16 seconds to the first screen. I compared it with my Ivy Bridge with the i5 3570K @ 3.4 8GB @ 1866 running 7 and it was 28 seconds and the Ivy has the supposedly superior Samsung 830 SSD (laptop has the SanDisk Extreme) and both msconfig start up mods on both!
So the 8 has to be faster by a fair margin I think.

Yep I suppose I should update my specs too as I still have just the Sandy Bridge listed.

right now I am on an Ivy with the i5K 8GB 166 GTX 650 Asus P9Z77-V board Samsung 830 and 7 and the old laptop with what I said it had leaves it for dead.
