I got it installed and removed the watermark, but something went wrong during the install process. Windows recognized the AMD driver as having an invalid digital signature and blocked the install. the Catalyst Control Center installed okay, but now I have the following error code listed under my AMD driver in the Windows Device Manager. I'm also waiting on my system fan to settle down.
I experience a similar issue with excessive power consumption and heat using the Leashcat solution before. I'll give it a day or two to see if this version is improved any over the previous releases, but if things continue as they are now, I'll simply roll everything back to before install.
I'm guessing, but I think the Leashcat version of the AMD drive installed correctly, but Windows simply doesn't trust it and has marked is as though there is a security issue with it. However, it appears to be working somehow, regardless.
I'm also waiting on my system's fan to settled down. It appears to be running constantly, though no where near as bad as before when I last tried these drivers.
I told you before that I had experienced similar issues with excessive power consumption and overheating the last I tried these Beta drivers under the Pre-Release Beta version of Windows 8. I'm going to give it a day or so to see if Leschat has actually improved upon their previous "catalyst_12.11_beta6_unifl" driver releases.
I'll simply roll everything back to the way it was if I don't see significant improvement within 24 hours.
Yeah I seen those same problems from others, but mostly that run BF3 and games like that.
Have you looked through this page? UnifL Manual it has some explanations of problems. also read some of the posts in the 21-11/b4 blog? there are others with the same issue's and some have found a solution or so.
I guess it all depends on the setup, as some with the same gpu have it work and some seem to keep having problems. That's why I need people with the exact setup as mine that have installed these things to give feed back.
AMD also has a 12-11b6 driver out, but its only the AMD part, I don't think it just installs over the OEM driver and works with switchables that use the Intel apu. I'd be happy just to be able to do that and leave the Intel driver as is, but I think they have to somehow match each other for the brightness and wake on sleep to work, and I assume the actual switching thing.
Well as I said here is this guy from leshcat's site that just used these drivers, he has the same GPU but I'm not sure what model laptop it is. But he also is playing this BF3 and before he said everything else was OK other than that.
Johnny Nov 11, 2012 12:04 am alter amd files – goes over 85c no good
tdr 0 – 20 minutes of bf3 before laptop froze
tdr 3/7 – 40 minutes before direct x crash
now i wait for next driver
I noticed that when I initially installed the Leshcat Driver set; the AMD driver encountered a problem during the install process. Windows did not recognize it as being digitally signed properly. [That was most like due to the fact that I removed the Test Mode watermark immediately upon restart, which was before I restarted the install process to install all the drivers]
I REALLY hate the watermark!
I just re-installed everything once again, but this time I did not immediately remove the watermark before completing the installation. Everything installed without a hitch this time. Windows didn't recognize any signature issue or try to block installation of any the driver components this time.
My device manager is not currently registering any issues with any of my drivers and my system fan is completely idle. I also have the Catalyst Control Center successfully installed, so it looks like everything is working fine at this point.
[Cross your fingers, Dude! I'm about to remove that pesky Test Mode watermark once again]
With any luck... Windows will continue to accept the digital signature outside of Test Mode at this point, since everything is already installed and has been registered as working properly.
LOL yeah I bet your just sayin that to get me to play lolol, just kiddin, but hell that sounds pretty good than, so I assume that 43 is also gone? I seen where people remove the water mark "after" its all done and all seems to work ok, but like you said you may as well let it ride if all is workin. what program you usin to remove it?
BTW do you use the metro thing as is, or do you have one of thoose start menu programs? I ask cause I have a link to one of those if you use them. 8StartButton - A start button + start menu for Windows 8
Anyway good to know that this driver is a bit more refined, what model laptop do you have? I know you said you have the 7690m xt and intel 3000.
OH I wanted to ask did you uninstall the other drivers before installing leshcat's? or just install over yours. cause I read that to get them to install right the first time you have to remove all the OEM drivers. Sounds like a mess but I guess it works that way.
I removed the watermark and restarted my system again, which caused the normal windows system integrity check to recognized the AMD driver as being improperly signed. I really don't understand why it's necessary for me to have to run my computer in Test Mode for this to work correctly.
Ask your buddy how exactly did he remove the Test Mode watermark. Ask him, if he used the registry editing software I've been seeing online, which allows one to take ownership of the shell32.dll.mui. Or.... Did he simply remove it using a command-line script (bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING OFF) as I did?
It seems to work fine, with the exception that you need to remain running in Test Mode.
