As in, ran the EXE, selected "Install" option, chose the "Custom" radio button and Next until installed. No reboot required.

BTW your CCC/driver will likely NOT indicate there is an update for a while, but as the screenshots show, Windows Update knows its there. Also, the 64-bit release is for Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

If you post your Hardware IDs (Device Manager -> Display* -> AMD* -> Details) I will check my *.INF files for the 7690M XT support. Incidentally, the "Intel Media Components" above and the Intel driver on the system are AMD signed (they have to be, it's an x64 Win O/S thing).

What is the date and version of your Intel driver? I pulled apart the 12.11 beta package and there was no Intel driver to be found.

read on Anandtech that he had problems after installing this 12-11 with his test machine, and did a install of the driver, than installed the “latest” Intel driver and than reinstalled the 12-11. He said that the 21-11 seemed to remove the Intel driver he had. I don’t know if that’s how it is supposed to work or not. I guess he installed the latest Intel driver separate. This is still insane. The damned driver should be all in one inclusive to install, and AMD should realize this when they know were talking about "switchable" ie AMD/Intel ie Enduro.

As you see the drivers are the same, in other words the whole damned driver is "one" set (from HP) so its all a mystery as how AMD "provides" both drivers. its insane. If AMD would just say "oh btw you need to download the Intel driver along with ours for the thing to work on your switchable laptop" I think things would be a hell of a lot clearer. Right now they act and say this is the Enduro "fix". Well hell if it is if it won't install correctly on AMD/Intel switchable laptops.

And Intel also needs to get into the mix, by actually telling laptop owners something to that effect, ie what driver is going to be "compatible" with the latest AMD switchable driver if we do need 2 separate downloads for this S@%t to work as stated.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    added after this post............

I assume Leshcat does the same sort of mix and match as the so called “manufactures” to accomplish this, however if so than there are still way too many problems associated with them too yet. Something still doesn’t want work together even with his effort to get them to work. Otherwise nobody would be having problems with their switchable laptops and we could all go on our merry way downloading and installing with complete disregard to the “manufacturers” or even AMD.
So I assume you’d need to install the 12-11 and the Intel HD Graphics Test Driver 15.28.6.2857 to have a “working” switchable laptop. (right)

Sorry HOODY, should have been clearer.

As I say, go to Device Manager -> Display adapters -> AMD* (in your case should be AMD Radeon HD 7690M XT) -> Details then select Hardware ID on the Property drop-down. Here is mine:

Select one of the lines, then CTRL+A (Select All) and CTRL+C (Copy), then Paste here.

And yes, the Intel driver version and AMD driver version should be the same. Windows x64 requires signed drivers, so therefore AMD must take the Intel HD Graphics driver they obtain from Intel to integrate. As per my other post, this AMD-signed Intel components (9.17.10.2843) are newer than the Intel Download Center version (9.17.10.2792), but older than the current latest test driver. Here are my current drivers (Device Manager) with AMD Catalyst 12.11 Beta3:

Click image for larger version Click image for larger version

In the past, if you installed the Intel version of the Intel HD Graphics, you would lose the Switchable Graphics/Enduro capability, and CCC would probably not load (similar to the Catalyst errors we experienced when installing the pre-Win8-certified AMD drivers before Leshcat).

I don't see any Intel drivers included with the current 12.11 Beta...so let's see what happens when I upgrade the Intel drivers.

EDIT: Tried it with Intel 9.17.10.2857 (Testing) above. It looks like my installation (UnifL Sep4 + AMD 12.9 Beta [upgrade] + AMD 12.11 Beta [upgrade], clean install not tested) requires the UnifL Intel drivers (9.17.10.2843, same version as AMD Intel Media Components from 12.11 Beta) to work.

For the curious, the Intel driver loaded fine, but the AMD Radeon had a yellow exclamation mark and Code 43. I also lost the Configure Switchable Graphics (right-click Desktop), and although CCC ran fine no functions were available (however, no errors on boot). Simple to restore to working again: Device Manager -> Update Drivers -> Have Disk... -> UniFL W86A_INF Folder.

Well I think it may be a mute point, here is what I got from AMD rep just now after sending him the info on this.

"This brought me to the Catalyst 12.10 download, and specifically that verification tool. I read the release notes, and it states that your particular graphics product is not compatible. I am very sorry, as I feel I have therefore mislead you in the past."

    And this

"I read the release notes for Catalyst 12.11Beta, and it does not appear that your particular HD7670m XT graphics is supported either. I am trying to get confirmation on this for you."

    So there it is...........

    -----------------------------------------------------------------
The info on my card is this:

    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6740&SUBSYS_185E103C&REV_00
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6740&SUBSYS_185E103C
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6740&CC_030000
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6740&CC_0300

As you have a 6770m your probably OK and supported, this 76xxm series however doesn't seem to be, which is weird since they say its a 6770m re branded, but whatever, the battles have been fought and lost, and the war is going the way of the manufactures. I'd be happy if HP and AMD would just relent on this mess and issue all those with any 76xxm card and intel apu a new MB, replacing the thing with a compatable Gforce gpu, I'd even do it myself.

    The official Windows 8 x64 HP drivers for HP dv7-6Cxx (including AMD Radeon HD 7690XT): [Drivers] HP dv6-4XXX / dv6-6XXX / dv7-5XXX / dv7-6XXX / ENVY 14-2XXX / ENVY 17-2XXX (INTEL) (see AMD Radeon HD Graphics section)

Also, the HP SoftPaq notes for the above driver is here: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58788.html

N.B.: HP drivers are all-in-one, i.e. contain the Intel driver as well.

    Good Deal Thanks

But as you can see the driver for W7x64 is still the same Nov 2011 driver, only the one for W8 is newer.

So I’m now wondering just what that means, as I have read before that HP may release ONLY 1 driver update JUST for W8. And we’ll still be in the same boat later as AMD comtinues to update while HP only has this one for the next 2 years.

I glad that its posted as I will be upgrading to W8 in a couple days myself, and needed it, however I’ll still pin some hope on AMD and the Enduro project, ie have us be able to use the latest AMD release and than download the latest Intel update and have both install and work.

Other than that we’ll still be looking to Leshcat to do the mix/match thing and offer us an updated “unified” driver package.
