KB2975719 Appearing as Optional Update Sept 2

This update is now appearing as optional update available on my pc's. Any problems with this? I am running scared about installing "optional" updates since the last two month's fiascos. KB2975719 is correct number - sorry for mispost originally . For now, I have just "hidden" this update - afraid to try to install it.....lol. Microsoft has gone completely berserk with Windows Updates, it seems.

August 2014 update rollup for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 Note it says This update is released on September 2, 2014.

I guess it's a fix for the original version from last month's bug. That shows up today as an update for me also, even though I still have that KB installed. I wonder if the original (buggy?) version needs to be uninstalled first?

I never was able to get it installed last go-round. So, I hid it then - am hiding it again - there's really nothing in the details that I need or want.

The patch fixes more than one bug. I would install it.(one of them even was concerning wifi)

That pertains to Miracast - which I don't have and didn't even know what it is - had to Google it. Think I'll still pass on installing the Update.

Sounds good, did you still have the original KB2975719 installed when you installed today's version?

I took the plunge and installed it. I did a system restore and a system backup first. The only reason that I installed it was it said it repaired some USB problems and some PDF reader problems that I have.

I just installed the NEW KB2975719 which I already had that KB# from the August 12th update. I didn't uninstall the original, the new one was about 400k which was smaller than the original. It now shows that 2 new updates were installed, KB2979582 and KB2993100 which are dated September 2nd. The KB2975719 still shows the original date of August 12th.

All seems good.

I've read the previous posts on the latest KB2975719, and am still unsure whether I should perform the update or not. It is showing as an optional update

Is is always better to uninstall the previous update KB2975719 before installing the latest version?

Or will the latest file just overwrite & replace the older file?
