    What did you expect?

If you love W8, you want more W8 stuff for W9.

If you hate W8, you want less W8 stuff for W9.

Maybe this would work for most people.
    Release 2 versions:
    • Windows 9 - No Desktop GUI
    • Windows 9 - No Tablet GUI

You can only discuss what you know, everything else is wishful thinking, so wondering what Windows 9 will be like is just wishful thinking. A lot of people are wishing it were not like Windows 8, but more like Windows 7. Others appear to be wishing it were more of the same, but improved, whatever that means.

What was expected was just as I posted, something insightful, albeit then it would seem that the folks here on the eights are incapable of being insightful. . .or am I just being hopeful. Oh well just shows that being an old fool is just being an old fool. . .

I'm afraid you won't be totally able to get around the likes and dislikes of Win 8 when going to talk about what comes next unfortunately just like people who hated Aero wonder what would be seen in 7 that no longer saw the Classic theme style and format. Now people will wonder about just what trend MS will take since many simply do not want one thing or the other no matter which crowd you talk to. I guess you simply got caught in the middle!

And in Apple News... here is a good example of the problem they're going to be facing with their profit margins evaporating.

Meet the tiny, Florida-based phone maker that thinks it can beat Samsung | The Verge

When the op sys can be gotten for free(Android), and the hardware costs about the same for all companies... you get clones. Clones lead to massive competition, and that leads to very small profit margins. It'll be the exact same thing with tablets. Apple will still be able to sell lots of both, but only if they're willing to compete on price at the cost of the profit margin.. something the company has never been able to do.

Well talking about a new version and talking about what the current version needs improved goes hand-in-hand. Not sure what you were expecting.

I have to say Windows 8 is (mostly) great on tablets and pretty great on laptops, but in reality it's pointless on desktops. especially when you have more than one monitor.

The future of Windows really doesn't work on destops. Unless it's those star-trek like touchscreen systems
Honestly it's working fine for me with two monitors, and I do not think that the future of PCs and Windows is so limited.

As far as I'm aware Microsoft improved Windows 8 to work better on multiple monitors than Windows 7. You support that and so do others, so why is it that a few claim it's worse, gotta be something wrong.

I suspect that it is the same old problem that is encountered with new Windows releases:
    • MS tinkering with the code
    • Sloppy driver coding by hardware vendors
