UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows

Just going to point out that I just published a BETA version of Rufus v1.4.2 that includes EFI/NTFS support (among other things).

What's more, even on a system where the firmware doesn't contain an NTFS UEFI driver, it is still possible to boot from an NTFS partition in EFI mode by following these instructions. Using this method, I was able to boot a Windows 8.1 installer from a GPT/NTFS USB drive created by Rufus, on a system that doesn't have native NTFS/UEFI support. This could come very handy for people wanting to boot a converted ISO with a >4GB file.

Feel free to test the BETA and please make sure to report if you see any issues (UEFI related or not).

Hello RP, and welcome to Eight Forums.

    Yes, you sure can.

I myself like to create a Drivers and Programs folder on the USB to have those type of installation files in them to be handy after an installation.

If I create a bootable Windows 7/8 DVD, I can install Windows 7/8 in both BIOS and UEFI PC using it. Is that right?

Hello Chun,Sorry, but no. For UEFI, it would be best to use a USB flash drive, and you would need to have each OS separate.

It would be easier and faster to use a USB flash drive created with this program to do so.
