I haven't been able to update windows for about a month now. When I attempt to update, the CPU runs high but nothing else is happening ... ie hard disks at zero. Eventually I have to go into Task Manager to stop Windows Update. Then I'll get an Error Code 80244019. I've tried using the MS Fix It tool. It says it's fixed the issue. But there's no change when I try to update again. Windows Defender is running fine. I've scanned the machine, there's not bugs. It's operating normally otherwise. I've tried another fix suggested on Youtube, going into PC settings and unchecking the bottom box.

It didn't work. I don't have a system restore available that pre-exists the issue. No idea what else to try.
Need advice please.
Thanks
