I got Glary Utilities Pro for Xmas.{$11}

I saw Windows Update as something to be cleaned.
I ran the cleanup of everything & it only took a few sceonds.

I emailed Glary & asked if their Windows Update cleanup was the same thing as in Disk Cleanup in Windows.
They said yes.

They said it cleans out the Software Distribution folder.

I ran Disk Cleanup & it hung on Windows Update Cleanup for half an hour & there was still 4 MBs left over.
This is after running Glary, which only took a few seconds to finish.
I ran Disk Cleanup again & still had 4 MBs left over.

I ran Glary again & had 0 MBs left over.

I think there is something wrong with Disk Cleanup in Windows.
If Glary can clean it in a few seconds & Disk Cleanup can take over half an hour, something's wrong.

Input appreciated. :)

DiskCleanup did became slower than I remember in previous windows versions but it may be doing other things than just deleting files. Judging by how long it takes to get ready, it probably checks more places like Registry and system files to compare what's actually installed and which shape it's in. After setting itself up, actual cleaning is pretty fast. I watched disk activity while cleanup was going on and it was lo during first part, once it started doing something, there was a lot of disk activity, light on SSD stayed on till finish. I'm not sure what Glarry is doing but it may not be as thorough job as DiskCleaner, for all I know it may be just deleting files themselves and nothing else.

Probably does same thing as first one, it does make sense though, just as much as clearing contents of Recycle bin. Why move all of that data around during defrag when it's going to be deleted anyway and leave a hole in file system. If you have already cleaned out downloaded updates in the first instance, it probably will not do anything since they are gone anyway.

They said yes.
It is not, they do not do Windows Update cleanup from WinSxS folder like Disc Cleaner does.

OK.
Will wait for more input. :)

ticking service pack backup files does dism /online /cleanup-image /spsuperseded, ticking windows update cleanup does Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup You can also compress files in WinSxs. All of these take time.

Glarry it appears just deleting the Software Distribution download files (very quick) which are deleted by scheduled task after 30 days anyway.

I recently upgraded to TP. The first disk cleanup took several hours (not sure exactly how long as I left it overnight) - subsequent ones are only a couple of minutes. It is probably worth letting it run through - it will finish eventually.
