Update on situation
Thank you, Brink/Shawn.
The first system restore did not help, as noted in the original post. I went back as far as I could with others. Same problem. I ran the sfc multiple times with restarts--same sfc results.
Using Brink's instruction page, I ran as a quick precursor to
"Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth," the Repair-WindowsImage -Online -CheckHealth and Repair-WindowsImage -Online -ScanHealth. The results are attached.
As per the directions, "2. In the elevated command prompt, copy and paste the command below and press Enter.
NOTE: This will place a sfcdetails.txt file on your desktop with only the SFC scan result details from the CBS.LOG in it.
findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt"
It returned an error that it couldn't open the location "Laptop\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt." But I do have copies of the CBS log and searched them for the SR tags. However, I can't really tell what the error is, with that info or the material below, such as, "[DIRSD OWNER WARNING] Directory [ml:520{260},l:88{44}]"\??\C:\windows\Help\Windows\IndexStore\en-US" is not owned but specifies SDDL in component Microsoft-Windows-Assistance-CollectionFiles-Help.Resources, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture = [l:10{5}]"en-US", VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral". Then there is more of this.
I don't really understand that, and I'm confused about the AMD64 in the pasted information above because I have an Intel i7.
Here is copied text of a sample of the 16 or 17 "cannot repair" entries from the log:

Again, I don't understand this, especially the "amd64" entries. Is that for the processor? Again, mine is Intel.
So, unless someone tells me otherwise, I will try the recommended
"Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" when I get a chance.
If anyone needs more information to help if he/she sees something in this post, let me know.
Thanks for the help.
