Windows.old\Program files folder disappeared

I did a refresh on windows 8 because the computer was running really slow. after it finished, i could go inside the windows.old folder to access all my files including the program files from which i copied so folders onto an external hard drive butnow there is no more program files folder there and i need some of the files and i did not delete any of them
Help!!

Did you run Disk Cleanup or any 3rd party program like CCleaner that may have deleted the Windows.old folder by mistake?

For now, you might see if you may be able to use the free program Recuva to recover the folder.

I have only installed steam(which is the folder i copied from the windows old program files), avast, chrome, and origin. and not the whole folder is gone, only all of them except for Users and WINDOWS and i'm running Recuva now, i will update when it is done.
