Windows cant find wired xbox controller

I connected my xbox controller to my pc and a pop up says USB device not reconized. I've downloaded the microsoft drivers and it still doesnt work

You could try uninstalling the drivers, reboot, and letting windows update do the plug and play magic. This also has the added benefit of allowing you to peruse "Device Manager" to see if you have any exclamation points being flagged on the controller.​
