windows 8 shut down

Hi all I have a prob; my windows 8 comp well not shut off unless I do a restart and then shut it down, any ideas ?

Did you use the power button or the charms bar? Also 8 or 8.1? :winkey:

windows 8.1 and I just use the windows button to shut down
