I have been trying to get my new Samsung laptop (Windows 8 uefi) to dual boot with Ubuntu 12.10 (using an external drive for Ubuntu) with no luck. Although I can get Ubuntu to run fine, when I come to boot back into Windows it fails to load (grub 2 fault shown), this mean I then have to recover my laptop to factory settings and have to download all my programmes again (Firefox, Chrome, Office, pictures).
When my laptop has recovered it then fails to load Ubuntu. I have had to do this 4 times, and I am wondering is it possible to save the current setting so that when I have to recover you don't loose all your programmes.
I go into recovery mode by pressing F4 on start up, the screen shows a slide bar that you are meant to slide to the time of recovery, my slide is fixed to the day I bought the computer and refuses to move.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards.
