Solved Windows 8 Randomly freezes for 1-10 seconds

I don't like the fact that Avast found 2 threats. Did it isolate those 2 threats to the virus chest? If not, I would schedule a boot-time scan so Avast can deal with them outside of the Windows environment.

I will run a boot time scan when I can. Good news is that it deleted those threats

As you see I've had it installed just over a month. Between October 27th - 19th Feb I didn't have this issue.
It has to of been something recent. Possibly one of the updates caused this?

It could be the Avast program update feature and failing to update a certain app try turning that off also.

I think it is hardware related as it is just the mouse and keyboard that stops responding

Are you using a wireless keyboard and mouse combination by chance? If so, you might want to temporarily switch to a wired set to see if that solves your issue because the wireless sets are subject to interference from things like microwave ovens, cell phones, and anything else that operate in the 2.4 GHz range. You also might try replacing the batteries as well. Just a thought...

I am sure it is not the avast auto-update as my freezing happens a lot of times in 240 minutes(avast auto update)

I would now try disabling all non essential MS programs to see if you can possibly isolate the problem to a program that is running:
