Windows 8 file explorer acting strange
Hi my windows 8 file explorer for the last few days has been acting very strange, One min it will be blank with just a few things in it and at another time be normal, if i log off and log back in its fine again. i did a test when it was acting up i stuck a USB jump drive in and up popped file explorer it look like it always dose,i then opened the one on the PC itself and it was still freaked out. i will post pictures of both of them the one that has barely anything in it is one from pc itself the other is when i inserted a jump drive very strange and ideas? .

In the first picture you can see a progress bar at the top indicating that explorer was still loading the drives info, thats why you aren't seeing everything.
Actually i snapped the picture to soon it looks the same after it fully loads up and all, but the second picture looks normal any reason or a fix for this.

You might want to try disconnecting any external usb drives to see if that makes a difference. You might also want to check the event viewer to see if you see any drive errors.
ok i will look in there and see what type of error would it be so i can weed threw the windows chatter.

is the only error that i see in there prating to drives besides way back on the 24th last month a VSS error but nothing on that since then. I will try unplugging the external drive when this happens and see if it makes a difference. I would sure hate to have to re install windows over this, but it sure is funny how it looks normal when i plug a USB jump drive in. The funny thing is i plug that jump drive in when the other one looks like that and one is normal other is not go figure.

I would just make sure your click on the "safely remove" icon before removing any USB drives.
ok will do since that one is used for windows file backup i almost forgot that one thanks for the reminder. I sure hope that is all it is and if so how would i fix such a issue?.
