Win7/8 dual boot stops at f1 setup/f2 load default

My laptop bootup stops at f1 setup or f2 load default screen and waits for my selection only when I previously shutdown from Windows 8. When I shutdown from Windows 7 the bootup is okay and continues through the select Windows 8 or Windows 7 screen.

Windows 7 was already on my laptop c: drive when I installed Windows 8 on a d: drive partition. My laptop is Asus 1201n. Shutting down from Windows 8 creates an annoying bootup process.

I would appreciate any suggestions to correct this problem.
