Solved will reverse OCing decrease power consumption ?

before u say anything , please read this part , since the title thingy doesnt allow me to write all of it , so here goes , will reverse OCing decrease power consumption in idle stage ? my PC is online 24/7 and since im pretty lazy , i dont really want to OC my GPU every time i get to play games , and reverse the process afterward since my PC mostly just idle all the time ...
 
There's no reason to worry once the VGA automatically slows down on idle state.
That and when GPU is used for 2D, it runs at a fraction of it's power, only when you play 3D games or use a 3D intensive program that it starts using more power and even that is to the degree that particular game/program demands. I don't know about that Nvidia GPU but ATI/AMD ones have possibility of making profiles for each game so even than it OCs only to set degree.
 
In my RADEON 7850 I know I have the option of setting it to manually always run at a certain mhz/oc rate and such compared to letting it automatically filter it. Unless you are doing extremely heavy gaming OC shouldn't even be considered just my two cents.

AMD CCC has options for OC and UC, but affects only 3D, My can OC from 750/900 to 950/1100 just fine but FPS changes by maybe 5-6 FPS only. Most of the time it does not pay to OC at all. To UC even less, 2D part does not go over or under 400, ever. Power wise no change at all.
