Will my rig support Windows 8.1?

the program is there for sure but the big green download icons are bigger than the link for the clonezilla ,myself I know better not to click on the big green icons and im sure most people are ,but not all ,im cleaning two computers right now for family members who obviously don't know

I knew better, Caper, I really did and I did it anyway, thinking that if MasterChief recommended the site, it must be OK. Sigh . . . When will I ever learn?

Use FF or Pale Moon browser with following add-ons for best results:

No-Script (<<<optional, but makes extremely secure), Adblock Edge (with EasyList, Antisocial, Easy Privacy and Malware Domains lists), BetterPrivacy (set to delete all Flash cookies every browser close), Disconnect, Ghostery, HTTPSEverywhere, NightlyTesterTools (to maintain compatibility for all add-ons even if using beta/Aurora), Refcontrol

Once it is all setup, you never have to look at them again. All auto-updates and once configured, no need to check on them ever.

For even better results, install Privoxy and direct your FF or Pale Moon to use proxy address of 127.0.0.1 and port 8118 for http, https. Like the screenshot below, but do not set anything for the Socks Host (leave blank). Put a shortcut to Privoxy in the user folder startup location:

Arrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh! I decided to go to the true owner's site for Clonezilla and lo and behold, what MasterChief posted is it! I thought it might be a part of Bugzilla, but guess not.

I cannot imagine why someone who wants to provide a free and open source application would throw it out there in such a manner that it's virtually impossible for the novice to figure out how to actually get it! I guess I'm one of those novices, since I normally will look up the name of an app and go to the true owner's site, rather than to a third party provider. It wouldn't have worked for me in this case, but I learn quickly!

I have it downloaded, but I'm not too sure I'll ever use it. Not that it wouldn't be worth it, but because there's no way I could recommend it to some of the seniors I support with free help. We may all be old, but our time and efforts are still valuable and should not be wasted on a site like this. My senior clients don't need the hassle and I don't need to be required to do the uninstalls that would be required.

Hopefully, the stuff that comes from those huge green download arrows is benign and won't hurt someone's computer.

Apologies for being so dense, MasterChief, but this is one of the few times I've ever been faced with something like this.

hahaha really first? Jimbo45 has been saying how every download everywhere is like that lately. It's just the net and how it is.

My last post will let you avoid it in all cases, and you will not even see anything of the sort again.

(I personally forget how the net is like that since I never see. I would not even use computers if I had to.)

I can understand it in part, Caper. The owner of the software needs help keeping his/her product out there. However, it could be done a lot better. I would be more inclined to trying out their extra advertised stuff if it were presented in a more honest way. I have surfed away from sites that made it hard for me to find the product I was interested in and will again.

lol no the end would be for it to end up on TPB.

I think it's quite simple, honestly. If you want to use the software, download and do so. If you don't like the ads enough to turn you away from the free excellent software, then don't download.

Over-complicating things is something even Einstein shied away from.

I never see anything like this. How?

Get Firefox 29.0 . . . Download Firefox ? Free Web Browser ? Mozilla

In Firefox, click on: Open Options (gear icon) / Advanced tab / [check] Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page

Get this, and keep the Adblock Plus Add-on on all the time:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/?src=search

Get the #4 Add-on, NoScript. Toggle scripts on and off, as necessary.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/noscript/?src=hp-dl-mostpopular

If something on a page is not working, temporarily disable NoScript, or disable Adblock Plus . . . you have to keep this in mind all of the time if you use these Add-ons.
