Why doesn't Windows 8.1 lockscreen slideshow work

Hi, When I select a pictures folder for a slideshow lockscreen in Windows 8.1 it doesn't let me do it.
It says "You need more than one picture to show in your slideshow"

I have tried with many different folders such as Sample pictures and custom folders with no luck.

I have looked at other websites for solutions to this but the solutions on other websites don't work.

Thanks in advance for helping.

I asked microsoft, they connected to my computer and got me in a safemode loop. Luckily I sorted the safemode issue but the slideshows not fixed

Microsoft said the files are fine. I've noticed some of the options from this page are not showing in my PC Settings. Microsoft said my registry may be missing some settings for the lock screen but they said they can't fix it

As a test, create a new user account, sign in to the new account, and see how the lock screen slide show works for that account. This will tell us if it's just an issue with your current account, or a system wide issue for all accounts.

In that case, let's see if running a sfc /scannow command may help if it's a corrupted or modified system file at fault.

If this just recently started to happen and was working fine before, then you could do a system restore using a restore point dated before it did this to hopefully undo and fix it.

If all else fails, then you could always refresh or reset Windows to fix it, but let's hope it doesn't come to that.

I did the sfc /SCANNOW earlier and it fixed some corrupt files but not all.

The CBS.log file says it couldn't fix some AMD64 files.

The issue started when I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1.
The slideshow lockscreen was introduced in 8.1 but I guess I could probably go without it. My computer is never locked much anyway so I'm sure if its not an easy fix I won't bother. Thanks for your help but refresh/reset isn't really what I want to do.

You never know but Windows 8.1 Update 1 might fix the lockscreen issue but if it doesn't I will cope without it.
I guess I will have to wait till April 8th to find out.

By the way, I will reply again tomorrow because where I live its late night so I'm going to sleep.

In that case, you might try the DISM command in the note box of the SFC tutorial to see if it may allow SFC to repair the rest of the files, and hopefully the slideshow.

I did the DISM command and it said it fixed everything. I restarted Windows and ran the sfc /SCANNOW command and it said:
"Windows Resource protection did not find any intergrity violations"

The lockscreen slideshow issue remains though :(

I will restart again and it might be fixed.

Would a refresh loose my Windows 8.1 and put me back to Windows 8 (I upgraded through the windows store) and remove my paid software (with 1 use product key)?
