Dear community,

I turn once again to EightForums, as I know this is a great community :) Now, my native language is Swedish, but it seems at some places it still reads in English, the "Control Panel" link in the Start-interface, like below (it has said in Swedish before, strangely...). Oh, and OneDrive displays some words in English, too. :S

Do you have either an English Windows turned Swedish using Swedish language pack, or an originally Swedish Windows with English language pack installed?

Or is this a Swedish Windows with no language packs installed?

Hi Kari :), I have an English ISO of Windows 8.1 Update that I installed, and added a Swedish language pack. But it seems that it did not change everything in the OS, even after setting everything to Swedish.

Give me an hour or so, I have Swedish language pack installed on one Finnish 8.1 machine and also on one English 8.1 (jag är en tvåspråkig Finnjävel ;)). I will check this a bit deeper and return with my findings.

OK, tested on two machines as I wanted to see if there's a difference between a Swedish - Sweden and Swedish - Finland language packs. No difference, both the same.

You are right, I just have not noticed this before (using Finnish, Swedish, English and German daily, having user accounts in all four languages, I do not always notice the language I am reading). Although Control Panel is correctly shown as Kontrollpanelen in everywhere else, the PC Settings page as shown in your screenshot shows the English name. The same with OneDrive app, occasional English.

It's mostly cosmetic, not bothering me as I barely notice it but I can understand your point. My suggestion is for you to get Swedish Windows 8.1 install media and do a fresh, clean install using it; as you might know the Windows product keys are version and edition but not language specific so you can use your code for English Windows to install a Swedish one.

Det var ju ingenting!

Interesting that now as you mentioned about this and I checked it a bit more, my Finnish user accounts on English machines are really completely Finnish as far as I can notice; as small and unimportant language as Finnish is (there are about 50% less Finnish speakers as Swedish speakers) this small language is completely translated regarding Windows language packs.

Dear Kari,

Now everything displays in plain Swedish! Finally! Must've been an update in Windows Update that solved it! Or... *scratches head*

Interesting!

I had to check, mine is still showing the same in English than earlier but I am currently installing updates, will be interesting to see what happens. As screenshot shows, language pack Swedish - Finland chosen, everything in Swedish except that Control Panel and a few items in OneDrive app:

EDIT:

Did the updates and same happened, now everything is in Swedish :).
