I'm having a problem with an external usb hdd which has suddenly got very slow when trying to transfer video files to it.

I've formatted the harddrive but it's still the same.

I'm going to try deleting this folder and creating a new one just in case it has got corrupted?

Unless anyone has a better idea?

Thanks

One quick thing to try that is used by Windows support is to boot to Safe Mode, then go into Device Manager and delete all the related devices. In this case your USB devices. Then reboot. Plug and play will install the same drivers that were installed already, but for some reason this reinstall often causes the problem to disappear for several months or even permanently.

If that does not work I would try another drive or USB stick in the same port to see if it is the port or the drive.

If you are having trouble getting into Safe Mode I would just delete the devices in regular user mode. I have done it a bunch of times and nothing strange happened.
