When will you upgrade to 8.1?

XweAponX thanks for your reasons .as for vista style boot animation miss them on bootup ,[never used vista so its all new to me ] im in the can when that happens ,

It's the horizontal line that has an animation that looks like it is actually doing something, it's similar to the Windows XP dotted line across the bottom. I prefer the Windows 7 animation, it is the best. I've messed with Mods that change the Boot Animation, I had one that made my system look like it was a Trek puter booting. But it ultimately wrecked my boot animation. If I ever get a Touchscreen system, I'll re-install it and then I'll use LCARSx32. I've gotten the Speech to work pretty well with that, and even respond with Majel Barrett-Roddenberry's Voice heh.

They've updated LCARSx32 so that it works with Windows 8 now, they built in an Updater that downloads the newest incremental versions when they come out.

I think I remember even the Betas of Windows 7 had the same Vista-Style animation, and when my Windows 7 Boot animation got messed up, it reverted to that, I don't know how - But it seems like that animation is built in to even Windows 8, I've seen it. Maybe the 8.1 Preview I have shows that animation because it's on a VM.

I Would do it on Friday, but on Wednesday I have to go into the VA Hospital for surgery on my Carotid Artery. After having a Ultrasonograph on this Wednesday it was determined that my Artery is pretty well block, thus only allowing a small amount of blood to flow through my brain, thus come the time 8.1 is released I'll be in ICU flying high on some really good pain meds . . .. . .so maybe in a couple of weeks. (At least now I know why I am having problems at this time just wish I knew about the first 67 years. . .

I have learned to wait a bit. Got burnt with ME, what a joke, and even Vista to some extent. I more than likely would still be on 7 if my laptop hadn't come with 8.

Will wait to see what kind of problems people report once 8.1 hits the masses.

Good luck to you. My dad is having the same surgery on the 24th he is 88.

All I've ever seen is the juggling balls going around in a circle under the logo. I've never seen a horizontal line animation in 8 or 8.1?

Maybe I had an earlier Preview. The Bouncing Circles sounds like the Windows 7 animation.

My Windows 8 only has the Aperture Circle spinning.

just checked ,it was 8.1 preview and it was a swimming upward colored fish,with the spinning white dots under it

Yeah, a circle of balls rotating around in a circle like they are being juggled. They bunch up and change speed as they rotate. Under the Windows logo.

I'm running the RTM clean install. I briefly ran the preview, did the update though the store. I ended up with issues and went back to 8.0. On my laptop (UEFI) I see an ASUS logo over the circle animation. On my desktop (no UFEI) its a Windows 8 logo. I don't remember ever seeing the fish, other than a desktop wallpaper.

i have the rtm on an other drive ,had to remove it [only have a dell sff so no room for 2 drives ] because i needed to backup email info to use on the rtm .

anyway i edited my last post to add that it had the spinning dots under it ,and i will add here that after it stopped spinning it go the my user picture and a spot to put in my password ,when i put in the password and hit enter the spinning balls reappear and then it goes to desktop

Mine does the same thing except no fish. I also see the spinning balls beside my user picture. I'm set to auto logon so there is no pause to enter my password.

Betta is the name of the fish species and thanks to MS geeks they associate the Betta Fish with the Beta version of their software. They need to get out more.
