Still existing TechNet subscriptions will of course have access but what about the rest.

As far as WMC is concerned - that's LAST century's technology -- there are so many BETTER and alternative ways of handling Media playing etc that WMC is essentially a totally redundant piece of software. Things like Film service streaming or online TV weren't around when WMC was first launched - and these days who ever bothers to install TV cards etc in their computers.

As far as WMC is concerned, I agree with you. I think most people were simply so used to using the Windows-supplied codecs and other media software that they had a knee-jerk reaction to Microsoft culling WMC--I was one of them... I got WMC free and had no trouble installing it with my original keys with my full UEFI install of 8.1, but with programs like VLC I don't even need it.

Had no trouble updating WMC, but it changed my reg code for Win8.1. to the one I used to load WMC!

That's normal. If you use add features to go from Core To Pro, the Pro key you enter is the new key Windows activates against. Upgrade again and Windows activates against the Media Center key. The Media Center keys are only good for use on one PC just like the other keys so they become the active key.

You can't give Reputation in the News section. You'll see a little Thumbs Up icon :thumb: next to the triangle with the ! in it , down under where it says My System Specs. You click the Thumbs Up when its visible.
