The method in the tutorial is a nice way too, but sometimes the black clock rectangle freezes on the desktop.
I hate that black clock rectangle when it freezes on the Desktop after disabling Metro using the tutorial. It occured to me multiple times too. But I observed that it only seems to happen in the same session when you disabled the Metro with Brink's tutorial but logging off and logging on solves this, to me it would no longer appear unless I disable the Metro then enabled it again.
But many many thanks to Shawn for that tutorial. It was perhaps the best way to disable the Metro among the different ways I've read or seen about. Up to now, I use Windows 8 everyday with Metro disabled thanks to that.
