I am facing the issue that after waking my new Lenovo X240 (with 8.1 installed on SSD) from sleep mode it takes up to 50 seconds until the lock screen appears. After setting up Windows to bypass the lock screen altogether waking from sleep mode now only takes a couple of seconds, which is how I would expect it to be.

However, I would actually like to keep the lock screen for security reasons, but haven't figured out what could be the cause for this massive delay?! Has anyone had similar experiences? I would really appreciate help with this! Many thanks!

It seems as if nobody on here has experienced anything like this? I spent several hours experimenting with different settings today but haven't been able to find any solution. What's funny is that when I wake the notebook from sleep mode windows would show me a screen which is telling me that it is presently "Locking...". That process takes up to 45sec until I end up at the actual lock screen where I can key in my password. I tried several different log-in methods...password, picture, fingerprint...it's all the same. Why does Windows take so long to lock, and why does this process take place when I'm actually want to wake it up and unlock it? It doesn't make any sense! HELP! :)

More often than not, the problem is the result of 3rd party programs, or outdated drivers. Make sure everything, including widows itself, is updated. Here is a tutorial for you to try out to speed up your computer some (without 3rd party software): http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/37511-optimize-performance-windows-8-a.html

Get the newest drivers & BIOS for your Lenovo X240 at Lenovo's website.

'sh all I got.
