Vista not working after some time on windows 8?

Are you saying you're getting a bsod when booting Vista? If so, boot to Windows 8. Copy the files out of Vista Windows\Minidump to any other folder. Zip them then attach here. I'll have a look at it.

whats a bsod?
minidump is empty

ehhh it's when the system can't handle an error and crashes to blue screen like you said: "blue flash"

Is there a file \Windows\MEMORY.DMP instead? Since you actually have the folder, that means that there really was a bsod at one time or another. Perhaps you've used CCleaner to clear the .dmp files in the past though.

If not, then I can't really help out in the aspect at all then, unfortunately.

You're welcome. Is your Windows set to see hidden and system files? In Windows Explorer ribbon - View | Options | Change folder and search options | View tab:

If you have those files in Vista's \Windows\Minidump, the rest should be easy.

The problem is that the boot entry for Vista in BCD is not anymore correct as you resized partitions.

How to proceed:
Download Visual BCD Editor - Windows 7/Vista Dual Boot "&" Repair and install when in Windows 8.

1. Run the utility. On the left side when it starts you can see all BCD loader entries.
2. Delete loader entry for Vista - click on entry then right-click and select "Delete".
3. Now right click in tree view and select "Create missing Windows loaders". This should create a new entry for Vista.
4. Reboot and see if Vista can boot.

I dunno. Try using EasyBCD now while on Windows 8 to add Vista. First use the "Add new entry" tab then when done there, go to "Edit boot menu" tab and click save. Reboot and test.

Did you change the bios at all ever from AHCI mode to IDE or vice-versa, since the last time Vista worked?

Anyhow, if not, then you'll probably have luck by adding Vista to the boot menu and then booting to safe mode for it. After you choose Vista while booting, keep pressing F8 to get the menu for safe mode.

Let me know the answer to the above question and/or if EasyBCD addition works (with or without safe mode.)

Are you able to make out what it says on the screen at all? Or even any clues for me to go by? With the right information, you may be able to just delete a .sys file and bring the OS up.

Unfortunately, that can't help you since you can't get into Vista in the first place to change any settings.

If I see the video, who knows? Unlikely to help, but possible though.

Ya, unfortunately, without the actual dump file that should be in Vista's Windows\Minidump folder, there's not much that can really be done besides guessing at drivers. It is a driver causing that though.

It gives the same exact screen when trying safe mode?

I'd be inclined to rid ALL of the drivers for the partition software you installed in Vista's Windows\System32\drivers
