Using Windows Live login - unable to share files to Win7

On my Windows 8 Pro PC, I've enabled sharing and set my home network up as a private network. When it was running Win 8 Consumer Preview, I was able to login as "joeblow@gmail.com". Then when I shared a folder, I was able to connect to it from my Win7 PC by entering "joeblow" as my user name and providing it with my Windows Live password. Win8 Pro doesn't appear to be working this way. I am able to see the Win8 PC from the Win7 PC, but when I open it up I see a blank window. Trying to enter a direct path, or mapping to \\Win8PC\C$ doesn't work. Homegroups aren't really an option for me since I have an XP machine and a Mac on my home network. Is a local account the only answer? Would that even work?

Have you tried adding a check mark to the the sharing tab on C drive or which ever folder you want to share?

You can also add check marks for the security tab permission settings on the Windows 8 C drive for "Everyone" which should be there by default. This would allow Everyone on the network access to which ever folder you allowed.

Adding a local account is the safest way as it allows you to only allow a specific LAN user access.
