ON my IE I have all the shortcuts for sites I use most. One by one they are not working. It's a pain because now I have to find the site again and redo it. Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

Try resetting IE in internet options, Advanced tab or right click the toolbar and restore.

So it's the favorites that you are having trouble with.

Strange one. Right click an empty area of the menu bar on top in IE and the Lock the Toolbars should have a check to the left of it, if not, click it.

i have lost the metro version of IE. all of my pinned sites automatically take me to the desktop version of IE...what have I done?

Please start your own thread so as to not confuse the issues of this thread.

Oh
I did that. Didn't work.

Are all your favorites still in the C:/users folder?

Yes, and they are all still on the favorites bar, just not at the top of my screen they go up into computer heaven until I put my mouse up there and then it comes down. I would like it to stay on the top. I switch from one thing to another and it's a pain this way. I can't hide a screen, close a screen or use the URL window unless I put my mouse up to the top. I checked all the tool items... but still no ..... Oh dear. I feel so stupid. I just thought of something... I click on Control 11 and it's fine. I'm embarrassed.

Reset IE. Go to default programs and set internet explorer as default. Also, scan for viruses, malware etc. You can also use ccleaner.

Reset IE was already proposed and the rest would not have solved anything, read the thread.
