To those using the latest 8.1 version (start menu)

In the latest versions/builds of 8.1, I realize they brought the windows icon to the bottom right to help users switch between desktop and metro. Is there a option to leave that start bar to have on (visible) always? The videos I've seen have the windows button acting like a charm (you have to hover your mouse over it to have it appear).

Hello BRKING,

In the Windows 8.1 Preview (build 9431) the Start button is always on the far left side of the taskbar.

Are you referring to a different version/build?

The start "button" is part of the taskbar... if you set the latter to auto-hide that will be the result.. ie act as a charms bar

So as you navigate from desktop to metro the windows button stays visible? Great. What if you are in a app. Is it still always visible or hidden?

On the modern UI (Metro) Start or Apps screen, the Start button will only show if you hover on the bottom left corner of your screen.

Yeah that's what I feared. Wish there was a way to make it visible no matter what you're doing.

i see what you mean, but , you hover over the lower left corner the start icon comes up ,or just use the start key on the keyboard

Yeah I know but it's so annoying. There are certain things that should always be visible in my mind: Start/window button and the time are two that come to mind.
