System Restore or uninstall Windows Updates?

I wonder whether one or more of 13 recent Windows Updates has caused an issue. I can use System Restore to take my PC back to September 7th, three days before the Windows Updates were installed (there is just a Java update that has taken place since that I would have to carry out again). Alternatively, I can uninstall the Windows Updates one at a time or all together to see whether that rectifies the situation. Is there a preference? Should I uninstall from the highest KB number downwards if I uninstall the Updates one at a time?

Hi, if you suspect that the updates are causing problems the easiest way is to use System restore.

What kind of problem are you having?

I'd say uninstall 2 or 3 at a time and until the problem is resolved, then reinstall the last 2-3 one at a time until you find the one causing the problem. Unselect it in Windows Update and chose not to see it again, then reinstall the rest of the ones you uninstall.

Time consuming but you'll have to do it sooner or later if you want to continue using Windows Update.

I decided to use System Restore yesterday in case I should lose the restore point created at the time of the Windows Updates by taking days to uninstall those updates. I have used Windows Live Mail today and there are no re-occurrences so far of the critical events. The Windows Updates have reappeared in Windows Update. I plan to download and install the updates one at a time or in small batches then check Reliability Monitor to see whether the Critical event appears again.
