Stuck in bios, please help

Only with a Bootable disk.
or
You could reinstall Windows 7.

i heard you can't install Windows 7 if your OS is Windows 8, also how do you know if disk is bootable?

Thanks for trying, I think I screwed up my bios, when upgraded to Windows 8.1. Didn't have any problems before that

1) I take it that you upgraded from Windows 7.

2) If the disk is bootable it will boot.

1) no, I upgraded from 8 to 8.1

2) well, that make sense

your laptop should boot to the factory recovery unless you deleted the partition the recovery is on

Why not just pull the CMOS battery out for 3 - 5 minutes then re-install battery. This will reset BIOS to a functioning state.

I'll try that, but not holding my breath

by the way, how do you do that? Do I just take it out and place it back?

What is the make/model of your PC/laptop?

If a desktop, pull the side panel off and look for a quarter sized silver battery. Usually near the bottom right side of the mobo. If you have any after market components installed..eg GPU or soun card, those might be covering up the battery area. If a laptop, start taking the panels on the bottom off. It should be under one of those.

This a tried and true PC IT technician tool of the trade. I've done it on 10 - 15 laptops and countless desktops.

Iam not sure if resetting the bios is the issue that will fix OP problem ,and I don't think he has the knowledge needed to take his laptop apart and remove the battery
I still use older computer so im not positive as to how his bios works ,but older ones have the option to set defaults in the bios itself

I waited a while to post.

I suggest buying factory recovery disks.

Yesterday I did something to my computer & restarted & got the message, "your computer needs to be repaired.your boot options are screwed up."---- Something like that...:p

My Macrium image wouldn't even work.

So I got out my Factory Recovery disks (5) & used them. ($20 from Gateway)
I restored 8 oem.
I had a Microsoft account.
I added back my 8 pro wmc.
I went to the Store & got 8.1 pro wmc.
I installed Macrium 5 & added the Macrium boot menu at startup.

I restarted & chose the Macrium option to boot from.
I inserted the full image backup I had already made & restored my computer to the state before the screwup.

My point is: Having Factory recovery disks is good.
They will boot when nothing else will.

You would have to get the disks & try them.
They should work unless your computer is totally hosed. :(
