I have been having this strange problem after constructing and installing Windows 8.1 onto my new PC.
At first I couldn't ever get Windows to install, it kept giving a error about drivers, even though I had put in all the drivers I could find during install. After much fussing and frustration I decided to remove two sticks of RAM bringing my 32GB down to 16GB. It then allowed me to install the operating system.
I have a Windows 8.1 Enterprise install disk and ISO so I know that the OS can handle 32GB. After it allowed me to install using just 16GB, I then swapped in the 2 sticks I took out just to see if the RAM was bad. It booted up fine and I played several high end games just to stress it out, no problems. I made sure I had all the latest drivers for my motherboard and the OS then put the extra 16GB of RAM back into the machine.
When I do that I now get the following error:
"The operating system could not be loaded because a critical system driver is missing."
I have double checked that I have all the correct and updated drivers for the hardware in my system.
What could I be missing?
Thanks,
Derek C.
