Sony Vaio - Automatic Repair loop & no product key!

It finds winre on your hard drive, copies it over, mounts it, throws in a menu and a few tools, like rweverything plus a couple of things for fixing boot problems and applying wim files, then creates an efi/bios bootable .iso

You should be able to fix anything with it ( except hardware damage, of course )

Seems to skipping past and trying to boot from the HD.

Something up with the bios settings.

Do you have an F11 or something that will bring up a one time boot selection?

Or you could try switching off secure boot and give legacy boot a go to see if that will find the disc? I assume you have burned a dvd or similar.

legacy made a difference in at least to the sound of the drive as it loaded, but then i got a black screen again and coudnt see if it had booted or not.

actually the drive continued to almost "roar" for a while after it black screened. didnt sound too healthy to me.

its nearly 10.30pm here and i've been looking at this since 5pm, so i'll give it a rest for tonight.

if you have any more ideas, please post them and i'll check them out tomorrow.

Not sure what is wrong with rooq's machine. Have you got a Vaio?

If you have,. can you do screenies to show us how to get the thing to boot from V7f ?

I might have to do it myself tomorrow, I have never looked at a vaio before, so I have no idea.

Thanks for the link.

Not interested in vaio recovery, the HD is dead and has been replaced.

Need to boot v7f from usb, get the key from the firmware, and install 8.1.

Looks like it is F11

Thanks for all the help, guys. I have to return the laptop to its owner today as I'll be away for a while but I will pass on the advice and recovery tools.

If anything, I have learned what is required if my own laptop faces this issue! .

Thank you.

Yes, it is sounding more like a hardware problem.

Welcome to EightForums

Have you made the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

information   Information

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD. (Windows 8 only)
