Solved Screen Orientation

Hi,

Firstly Hello! Just signed up so this is my first post

Probably an easy one but i can't find the solution. I have an ultra book running Windows 8 and a second monitor. I have extended the display but i want to have my second monitor as the main screen, not the extension. How do i switch this around?

go to Control Panel > Display > Screen Resolution. or, you can right-click on the desktop and choose "screen resolution". then click on the monitor that you want as the main screen. and then click on the box for "make this my main display".



now, if it's the movement of the start screen location that you're after, left click in the bottom corner of the desired monitor. that monitor will then be the monitor with the start screen. alternatively, you can drag an opened Windows Store app to the desired monitor will will also designate that monitor as the start screen monitor.

so in the above example, if I want the left monitor to have the start screen, I move the mouse over to the bottom left corner of the left monitor and left-click. if I want to make the right monitor, I move the mouse cursor over to the bottom left corner of the right monitor and left-click.

an example of dragging the Metro/Windows Store app is this: if I launch the Weather app and it appears on the left monitor and I want it on the middle monitor, I grab the app by the top of the screen of the left monitor and then pull it to the middle monitor. Not only will the windows Store app be shown on the middle monitor, that will be the new location of the start screen.

one more clarification point. the primary display monitor does not have to be the same as the monitor that has your start screen.

so let's say you have monitor 1 and monitor 2. let's say your game demands that it run on the primary display. you would set your secondary monitor as your start screen monitor. and then you can load a Windows Store (Metro) app like for example, the news app or a streaming app. you can play your game on the primary display while still seeing the Metro app on monitor 2.

Another example is let's say you're working in Photoshop on your primary display. You can have your IM+ app running on our secondary display. That way you don't miss IM's that people send you while working in Photoshop. Also, if you snap your Metro app to the side on your secondary display, you can run another Windows Store app. That way, you can have maybe a news app and an IM app running on your monitor 2 while running your desktop app on your monitor 1
