Hi there
doesn't the laptop have a built in wireless card -- sometimes they don't have LAN ports but I'm sure any laptop (inc cheap netbooks) have had wireless cards already FOR AGES as standard -- at least 10 - 12 years -- just ensure it's enabled.

Cheers

I'm sure the Op just wanted to upgrade the internal NIC to improve performance as this NIC has 300Mbps and dual band capability.

Unfortunately people who install this NIC are having the same problem getting the wireless to work with Windows 8, the Bluetooth is working but not the wireless, it's most likely a driver problem but I'll look around for a solution.

The problem could be with the Intel Pro set connection utility "connection software' which isn't required and tends to can sometimes cause problems but the latest drivers from Intel should work.

Cannot identify wifi intel centrino advanced-n 6235 in windows 8

I would think the Intel site would have the latest drivers for this. Try the latest ones dated 7-23-13.
It may work best to uninstall the old drivers beforehand. :)

I've got the opposite issue with the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 a/b/g/n WiFi + Bluetooth 3.0 Wireless N Combo Card. My Wi-Fi works great, but I'm not seeing any Bluetooth options under Settings>Change PC Settings>PC and devices or Settings>Change PC Settings>Network. My BIOS is on the latest F.29 version (there are no additional settings for bluetooth there). I checked the device manager and no missing driver appears; there's absolutely no mention of bluetooth there either. Can anyone help shed some light on this?

Some manufacturers incorporate a white list in their BIOS. IF your replacement part is not on the white list the BIOS will not initialize it or use it. I don't know if this is your problem, just want you to be aware of it. I updated the WIFI card in my ASUS laptop to a dual band card. I uninstalled the old adapter in device manger and checked the delete drivers option. Then swapped cards and let Windows install the newest drivers for the new card.

Thanks for the response. I believe this card is approved for the board. I'd done some research before purchasing it. I will, however, try uninstalling and swapping the cards again. Thanks.
