Hi
I have a sony vaio vpcyb3v1e. I have windows 8.1 installed and i tried using a bootable usb to install as multi boot, the xp black edition on a separate partition. After doing that i couldn't be able to login in the windows 8.1 OS. I got the message Load needed DLLS for kernel.
Any help?

Set the UEFI/BIOS firmware to LEGACY OS boot & Secure Boot DISABLED, see if LEGACY Windows will boot.
with win 8.1 DVD choose automatic repair

Forgot to mentio that I manually added the windows 8 choice using easybcd software because at first there was onlythe windows xp choice.. I am now making a windows 8 bootalble usb to try the automatic repair. I will let the forum know.

Hi there
I believe the XP Black edition is a PIRATE copy so unfortunately helping you fix the problem is against Forum Rules.

These editions aren't allowed to be discussed.

Manually add the Windows 8 entry pointing to the correct partition with EasyBCD

I tried all the above but finally the only thing that worked was using a bootable usb with windows 8 and by command prompt and commands fixboot; fixmbr and rebuildbcd.
This was my solution and i hope to help anyone else in my position. Appreciate your help!

glad you sorted it out :)
When you install Windows XP, it’ll remove the bootmgr/BCD used by newer versions of Windows (Vista, 7, & 8) and use its own instead.
that ruined the boot manager of win 8
this happend to me but automatic repair worked for me and it fixed the boot automatically
