Hi, I have a windows 8 touch screen laptop. I am interested in a pressure sensitive capacitive stylus that would work with it. Do such pens exist?

thank you for your reply, but I think the pressure sensitivity on that pen is only for apple products. It just happens to use bluetooth to communicate. I don't think the pressure sensitivity would work on windows

Since my touchscreen is having warranty work right now, would you describe your finger as a pressure sensitive type of capacitive stylus? Would a stylus need to be noted as being pressure sensitive? Maybe the rubber tip of the one referenced would be considered pressure sensitive...

Hi, thank you Saltgrass. The finger-only type of touch screen is called "capacitive" touch screen. The usual capacitive pens available try to imitate the human finger (I think it has something to do with static electricity or conductivity or something).
"Pressure sensitive" styli involving something more. Pressure sensitive styli (like those in Wacom or N-Trig enabled tablets) consider how hard you press the screen with the pen to adjust link stroke thickness, opacity, etc.
I imagine that for a pen with a capacitive tip to have pressure sensitivity as well, that would involve some additional drivers or signals between the pen and the computer. The pen would have to recognize how hard it is being pressed and then send this information to the computer. The computer would then have to translate that signal (using some proprietary driver or software) into pressure information which then leads to the desired on-screen effect.
It looks like this has been accomplished with the ipad (see Jot Touch with Pixelpoint FAQ ) but in the FAQ for that product it says "The Jot Touch with Pixelpoint will work just like your finger on any capacitive touchscreen device. However, features like pressure sensitivity, palm-rejection and others require an iOS device with Bluetooth 4 such as iPad 3, 4, Air, Mini, and Mini Retina."
So I'm pretty much looking for a pen that can do the exact same thing as this Jot Touch Pixelpoint but on Windows. I've been searching but it looks like this technology is still so new so maybe there is not enough demand for it yet.

I think I have seen some mention of two different types of Capacitive touch screens. Maybe that is why one type will work and one will not, if I am remembering correctly.
I suppose I might be concerned about the physical properties of the screen itself. A finger will not do much damage, but if you use a sharper object and more force, it may actually damage the screen. This is just speculation so perhaps it would be OK.
I have a Wacom tablet and know how that works. I don't think the device would have to be Bluetooth, just some type of connection to pass the necessary information.
Anyway, good luck with finding one.

thank you, I sent a message to the Adonit people to see if they know any kind of product for Windows but it looks like there is none at this time. thank you all for your help feel free to close this thread.
I came across this one while researching my next purchase. It's from Dell and is advertised as being "pressure sensitive" for use with the standard Windows 8 stack. I read the reviews and it seems like the newest version of this device works better than the originals and is well received.
