Permission denied on samba shared folder

I setup a samba shared folder on a remote machine (Linux) and trying to connect from Windows 8.1 workstation A dialog says you need to confirm this operation and when I click confirm a dialog says You need permission to perform this operation I've tried with smb1 enabled and disabled Most recently I disabled it in PowerShell
