OneDrive has stopped working

I have Win8.1 Pro. Retail upgrade disc. Clean Win 7 Ultimate, then upgraded to Win8, then Win8.1, then Update 1.

I have no problems at all AFAIK. My rig is rock solid. I keep it clean system wise and upgrade drivers as they are available.

I tried both registry fixes provided. Both did what they said, but the error I get keep appearing anyway.

I tried the link I posted earlier today, and so far, so good. I did think that with the reg fixes too thou...

Looks like its time to bite the bullet and reinstall Windows, something within your current configuration has gone sour. I have seen these type of problems happen with the Windows Store and reinstalling Windows fixes the problems.

If you decide to go ahead, back up your data first and do a clean install.

You can try a repair reinstall if you meet the requirements in this tutorial - http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/26095-repair-install-windows-8-a.html. It'll allow you to keep your programs and settings without having to redo everything. As usual, it is always advisable to backup your critical files and data before proceeding.

And uh.... yes, you could call MS tech support to see if they could help. And it probably won't cost you anything. Just tell them you installed Windows 8.1 from the store, and now you're having OneDrive issues and you shouldn't be charged.

Good luck, and let us know.

Post your questions in the link I provided and Brink or someone should be able to provide you the answers you need. Only post questions pertaining to the repair install in that link as that's what that thread is about.

Good luck.

Brink gave me the advice to reset (which I understand being the same as the good old format and reinstall) or refresh. I'm gonna go the refresh route first and see what happens. I have a complete backup of my C-disk, so if worse comes to worse, I'll just reinstall it all from scratch.

Best thing you can do, you are pretty well out of options. Reinstalling Windows usually fixes a lot of problems. Hope it goes well.

I found a recovery point from about 2 weeks ago that I used. So far no errors...

That works. This is also why I say start with the simple first. That said, sorry we missed that suggestion; Would have been a lot simpler than going through all the other stuff you did first.

Anyway good luck and hope it sticks. You still need to solve the problem of updating you system though without getting the problem back.

Since the last Windows updates a couple of days, I frequently get "OneDrive has stopped working" messages.

Peace

No updates was missing, strange enough. I'll give it a while and see what happens. I have a faint idea what the culprit was. I'll report back if this sticks.

EDIT: It seems this easy fix did it. I really didn't loose much either.

I suspect "Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit V5.6" that I installed for a DDRAW issue could have been the problem.
