Solved Need help upgrading Win8[OEM] to Win 8.1

Hi,
I have a HP laptop and i wanted to upgrade it to windows 8.1 ,i wanted to know if media creation tool will download a personalized version of "windows 8.1 single language" which is unique for my laptop or it is going to be a regular windows 8.1 single language ISO.I am asking this as my internet is too slow for downloading it in one shot,as i think it doesn't have resume capability and if its not unique if i install Windows 8.1 single language acquired from other sources ,after installation will it be like i installed from media creation tool ,will it be legit?

Reply isn't clear enough, will the windows activate itself if I don't use official sources for iso download? (installing win8.1 single language over preinstalled win8 single language)

That is an "Official Source" by the way. The mediacreationtool is written and owned by Microsoft.

How would we know unless we downloaded and installed from that link? I'm not going to do it, that's for sure. almost everybody here is going to use the official link as it's the safest possible option.

Why? That makes no sense at all. Why would you want to download from anywhere other then a Microsoft site?

it takes ages to download with that media creation tool,however i still used it and it got stuck after 3 hours at 15% with no ETA
that is the reason i am considering that direct link from getintopc, someone has recommended it here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5857470?tstart=0 and got it working.That website seems fine to me,the only doubt is will it get activated or not...I think i will give it a try

It worked!
First of all i checked sha1 and md5 with the legit ISO on MSDN and it was exactly the same,so i think this iso is untouched,So I proceeded further made a bootable usb and started installing but it started asking for windows 8.1 product key.So i looked up online and found a method in which you have to make a ei.cfg in /sources,it stopped asking for key and proceeded to installing a trial, when it asked for a key on startup , I entered the OEM key which i found by using a program called "produkey" and it was activated
